Planning planning planning

Oh dear god, what have i gotten myself into..my halloween party is on Saturday and i am at home with the (very serious and bad) sniffles since Sunday. Yep, the flu season has arrived in the Netherlands and it has knocked on my door for the past week. Perhaps all of the stress surrounding school, party planning, my four dog children, gym life and lets just say living in general|? could have payed a small contribution to my amazing cold. A lot of people around me have been getting sick, so it was only a matter of time until it would have hit me. Not making party planning any easier! i am kind of  a list maker, but for most the kind of list maker that makes her lists in her head and the words sort of bounce around in my head each night before bed time. Isn't it great just lying in your bed staring into a pitch black room thinking about red cups and how much wine to buy? i mean i am an organizer and a planner, it is basically my second nature, so i have decided to make lists. And may i please help you by doing the same, because actually seeing it in your notes, or written down somewhere already relieves the brain of 60% stress.

Apparently Pinterest is the place to be when it comes to planning party's, like there are actual people who make all kinds of lists for all sorts of purposes, It is amazing. It is like going shopping in a candy store for control freaks...you don't know which list to pick, because they are all so shiny and great. So next to the great lists i want to share with you, which i have found i also wanted to give you some Halloween decoration inspiration...to get in the mood you know. I have already gotten tons of DIY tips from Pinterest for Halloween, and they are actually not even that hard.

TIP: Add Vodka Cranberry (looks like blood)

This was a real hit! make a small sign which has an id number and the party on it and you will have great memories.

LOVE FOR ALOE

A while ago I received some products from an Aloe Vera company to try out. I have always loved Aloe Vera, since it offers us many health benefits and i am very careful what i apply to my skin.

The ‘plant of immortality’, as it was called by Egyptians, also known as ‘Ghritkumari’ in Hindi, ‘Kalabanda’ in Telugu, ‘Katralai’ in Tamil, ‘Kumari’ in Malayalam, ‘Lolisara’ in Kannada, ‘Koraphada’ in Marathi, and ‘Ghrtakumari’ in Bengali can perform miracles not just for your skin, but for your hair and health as well (Stylecraze.com). The products i received where for my skin and hair, existing of a facial cream, shampoo and sunscreen. The last product i have not been able to use yet, since i live in a country where it rains 360 a year (ha ha). But in when summer is here next year i will take my aloe sunscreen with me to Ibiza. For my readers who suffer from bad skin and/or slow or no hair growth here are some facts about Aloe Vera:

Soft skin CREAM - Aloe Vera

The facial cream i am testing has a great smell and is a white creamy substance. It feels very refreshing when applying to the skin. I have a very dry skin, so sometimes my face will still pull afterwards but thats just because i need a deeply dehydrating cream in order to feel like my face is comfortable. My skin looks great after using the product for about two weeks, i have not had any spots or crazy pimples lately even during my period. I think if you are very aware of the products you use on your body you will definitely get many benefits from using Aloe Vera, because it's very natural and closest to nature then anything else. I did not react in a bad way to the cream or experience any negative side effects, i am very happy with the product and will continue using it till it's finished!

Aloe Vera Shampoo

For my hair i received the shampoo. Again the shampoo smells very fresh and is a clear substance. It moisturizes my hair and i have noticed a less itchy scalp, since i only try to wash my hair 2/3(max) a week. When you don't wash your hair as often your scalp gets the tendency to itch like crazy, but this shampoo really balances out my pH (how scientific of me). As with the facial cream i have not experienced any negative side effects with the shampoo, and if you have a very sensitive skin like me and looking for a new product range, then you might want to check these guys out!

"Especially after Halloween, think heavy duty make-up and hair styles, you will want to give your skin a treat".

For my dutch readers you can visit them here: Aloeveraplaza it is a great online shop with a wide range of products, they deliver quickly and are very friendly! I always find customer service to be the most important feature of a company..so worth to try them out i promise!

Champagne Season

There are many ways of providing your party guests with delicious and fun treats, with one of my favorite items Champagne. It is just such a classy and delicious drink and really emphasizes celebratory events. Here are just some cool ways to get the party started!

Champagne Jello!

Below is a recipe devised from several that we found online.  This seemed the most simple way to get it done, and with only 4 ingredients too.
1 Bottle of champagne.
3 sachets of unflavored gelatin
3 tablespoons of sugar
Gold sugar for decoration (optional)
Pour 1.5 cups of champagne into a saucepan with the sugar and sprinkle the gelatin over the surface.  Wait about 3-5 minutes for the gelatin to soften, then gently warm the mixture, stirring until the gelatin and sugar have dissolved.  Remove from the heat and stir in the rest of the champagne.  Pour into a small tray, refrigerate until set (about 3 hours).
Using a sharp knife that has been heated in hot water (and dried), slice the jello into small 1 inch squares, sprinkle with gold sugar and place on a pretty tray for serving.

Champagne Cupcakes!

Champagne Cupcakes

yield: 12

total time: 1 HOUR

Ingredients:

  • 1 box white cake mix, plus ingredients on back of box, **replace the water with champagne
  • 2 sticks of butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 4-6 tbsp champagne
  • 4-5 cups powdered sugar
  • gold sprinkles
  • homemade gold sparklers (gold wire and gold tinsel), for decoration

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven according to the directions of the package.
  2. Line a muffin pan with muffin liners.
  3. Prepare and bake the cake mix according to the directions on the package, however substitute the water for champagne, so if your box calls for 2/3 cup water use 2/3 cup champagne. Divide the batter evenly among the muffins cups.
  4. Bake according to the suggested time - roughly 20-25 minutes.
  5. Remove the cupcakes and place them on a cooling rack to cool.
  6. When the cupcakes are cooled, prepare the frosting.
  7. In a mixing bowl, combine the butter and vegetable shortening and beat using an electric mixer until smooth, 1-2 minutes.
  8. Add in the champagne, starting with less and adding more for stronger flavor if desired.
  9. Begin to add the powdered sugar, about 1 cup at a time, mixing by hand first, then with the electric mixer. Continue adding powdered sugar until the frosting tastes good to you.
  10. Place the frosting in a large piping bag fit with a 1m piping tip. Push the buttercream down into the bag. Pipe the buttercream onto the cupcakes, starting in the center of the cupcake, swirling out, and then swirling back into the center, progressively stacking the frosting as you get to the center.
  11. Top with gold sprinkles and gold sparklers.

Champagne Soaked "Drunken" Gummy Bears

The bears swell up more quickly at room temperature, so if you're wanting them to soak in the goodness more slowly, just set the in the fridge for a day or two as compared to my instructions below for a quickly 24 hour method.
While these are still 'candy', they can definitely be made better-for-you by using bears as I did; all natural, fat free, gluten free, no artificial colors, no artificial flavors, and non GMO. Plus, with them swelling with the champagne, you don't have the need to eat too many and you have a fun way to enjoy a treat at your next party without feeling quite so guilty for indulging.

The Skinny:
Servings: 2 • Size: About 8 Bears • Calories: 114 • Fat: 0 g • Carb: 17.5 g • Fiber: 304 g • Protein: 1.5 g • Sugar: 12.5 g • Sodium: 0 mg
Ingredients:
1/2 C. Gummy Bears
3/4 C. Champagne or Sparkling Wine (I used a dry brute.)
Directions:
Place the gummy bears into a bowl.
Pour the champagne over the bears; give or take to cover them well.
Leave out on the counter at room temperature to soak for at least 10 hours.
If you wish for them to soak longer, place them in the fridge for another 10-20 hours

Enjoy responsibly!

Hangover free bubblies

So since the holiday festivities are around the corner, and how i might add 'YEEY', what better news is there then a so called hangover free prosecco? The Lidl will be offering such a gift to her customers. It is the Organic Prosecco Spumante and it is available from today on....the prosecco will be around 9 euro's, which can't we all say we will gladly spend for a hangover free night of fun and party? or even a great new years day, without wanting to kill the sun. The prosecco will unfortunately only be available in the UK (boohoo), since i live in the Netherland, of course we never have the luxury of skinny or hangover free drinks. When will the dutch market ever become so creative? or do we just all have to move to the US or UK to get fit right in. The drink will not be sold in the Netherlands, so my UK readers can head over to the Lidl and post me some please (haha)..but you never know, what if we write Lidl a letter and beg for some of this fairy potion in our country?

The secret ingredient is supposedly sulphite free, so i am looking to see if i can find a sulphite free prosecco and test if this really is the case!

I must say any kind of bubbly is my favorite drink and might i add, less calorie dense then white or rd wine. With around 80-90 calories a drink, this is my go to when i party. The best? is Gin Tonic(light)! if you want to go all fitspo on alcohols ass...
